‘Palestinian elections: the real story behind the scenes’

Mr. Ghaith Al-Omari
is Senior Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy where he focuses on the U.S.-Israel strategic relationship. He is the former executive director of the American Task Force on Palestine. He also served as advisor to the Palestinian negotiating team throughout the permanent permanent-status negotiations (Camp David, Taba). In addition, he held other strategic positions within the Palestinian Authority including Director of the PA’s International Relations Department and foreign policy advisor to President Mahmoud Abbas. Mr. al-Omari is a lawyer by training and a graduate of Georgetown and Oxford universities
Dr. Kobi Michael
is Senior Researcher, the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS). Dr. Michael mainly concentrates on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and on strategic decision-making process derived from the dialogue and interfaces between the military and political echelons – strategic aspects of civil-military relations. He has previously served as Deputy Director General at the Ministry of Strategic Affairs and senior advisor at the Israeli National Security Council and 23 years as a senior officer in the IDF Intelligence. He was among the founders and the commanders of the Israeli-Palestinian security coordination apparatuses in the Gaza Strip and West Bank, following the Oslo Agreement
